Who hunts the hunter
Catwoman
It’s official. I’m writing Catwoman with brilliant artist FABIANA MASCOLO, starting in October with Catwoman #69.
It is an honor and a joy. The book is unlike anything I’ve ever written, which feels exciting and right in so many ways. Fabiana is consistently delivering the most staggering, stunning pages and adds so much thoughtful detail to the already demanding script. It’s a privilege to work with her.
Fabiana is joined by colorist PATRICIO DELPECHE, and letterer STEVE WANDS. Our main covers are by SEBA FIUMARA (and good god, they are so fucking good.)
I’m extremely grateful to Arianna Turturro and James Reid at DC for putting together such an amazing team, and I truly could not be more excited to show you all what we’ve been working on!
Out story begins in October, with Catwoman #69:
Selina Kyle does not know why the attempt on her life was made, nor does she know who ordered it. As she desperately searches for clues as to who has suddenly orchestrated this lethal manhunt against her, something becomes abundantly clear; the answers don't lie in her life as the Catwoman of Gotham City. To save her own life, Selina Kyle must re-enter the world of a sinister international syndicate that years ago helped to transform her into the world's foremost thief. A tale of identity, broken alliances and pulse-pounding action begins here!
(Bleeding Cool expects there will be plenty of jokes made about beginning our run on issue #69, to which I say, how dare you, sir. We are comics people. We would never!)

If you have any questions, send me a message or leave a comment below, and I’ll answer anything I’m allowed to answer.
Everything else:
I wrote about my favorite road trip music here. It did not feel like a full newsletter post, but if you’re interested in that sort of thing, check it out, and tell me about what you like to listen to when you drive.
Speaking of music, Charles Soule is running a Kickstarter for his CURSE WORDS concept album. You should check it out!
Chip, being Chip, has created a four-page physical newsletter/zine and what a delight it is. Take a look at ZDARSKY COMIC NEWS #1 over at his Substack.
This summer has not been what I thought it would be, but I’m reading, writing, painting and setting up a print shop while vaguely ignoring the world as much as I can.
There is a line from Sense and Sensibility that I’ve always enjoyed, and it comes to mind pretty constantly these days:
Elinor agreed to it all, for she did not think he deserved the compliment of rational opposition.
I hope you’re enjoying your summer, wherever you are. Please keep telling me what you’re reading and watching!
That's a wonderful portrait of Donald Sutherland in his role in Kelly's Heroes. Thanks for all the excellent writing on Red Sonja. I look forward to every issue, and I love the cover art each artist has been doing, especially the ones by Barends, Parrillo, and Celina.
I stopped reading CATWOMAN with the end of Gotham War. Now that you are writing her I have to put it back on my pull list. Mascolo, she draws some fine art!
Are you sending Selina back to Italy?
69 is currently called 96. Because, as the economy worsens, it costs a lot more to eat out.
